Kenya Elections 2022: What's Next?

On August 15, Mr. William Ruto, Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, was declared the winner of the 2022 presidential election by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). The new president will face challenges in confronting regional instability, youth unemployment, inflation, and the economic consequences of both the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Please join the CSIS Africa Program for a discussion exploring the results of the election hosted by Mr. Mvemba Phezo Dizolele, Senior Fellow and Director of the CSIS Africa Program. Panelists include Dr. Karuti Kanyinga, Research Professor at the Institute for Development Studies at the University of Nairobi; Dr. Wandia Njoya, Associate Professor of Literature in the Department of Language and Performing Arts at Daystar University; and Dr. Collins Odote, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law at the University of Nairobi.
