About Executive Education

Executive Education at the Center for Strategic and International Studies provides a one-of-a kind learning environment with practical applications for professionals at all career levels. We invite you to join us for one of our ongoing courses and leadership programs or work with us to establish a custom program for your team.

Each offering includes seminars on timely global issues with high-level experts from CSIS, workshops with executive coaches to advance your professional skills, and interactive simulations to begin applying new tools and concepts. All programs are open to professionals from a variety of fields, including corporate, government, nonprofit, military, and academic sectors. Both online and in-person options are available.

Admissions Procedures

Please complete the online form which can be found on each program’s webpage. Applications are processed on a rolling basis. You should expect to hear about the status of your application or registration within two weeks of submitting it. If you have not been contacted by a member of our team by then, please reach out to the contact on the course page.

Requirements vary by program, but candidates should demonstrate an interest in the topic of the course and meet the minimum requirements for each course, which can be found on the program’s webpage.

Yes, all of our programs are open to participants outside of the United States. For some participants, a visa may be required for entrance into the United States. The participant is responsible for procuring their visa.

Program agendas are typically sent one week prior to the beginning of a program, so that participants have the opportunity to review the schedule and any reading materials that are included. To prepare for the program, we recommend familiarizing yourself with any preparatory materials that are sent to you.

Yes, applicants are welcome to apply for future courses if they are not accepted the first time.

Due to the interactive nature of our courses, it is essential for participants to be proficient in conversational English.

Payments and Cancellation Process

The tuition fee includes all course instruction, session materials, and meals. Tuition does not include transportation or lodging.

The preferred method of payment is through our online payment form using a credit card, however payment via check or wire transfer can also be accommodated.

For live in-person/hybrid/virtual courses:

Cancellations made 31 days or more prior to a program start date will be fully refunded.

Cancellations made within 14-30 days of the start date will incur a fee equal to 25% of the paid tuition.

Cancellations made within 13 days of the start date will incur a fee equal to 50% of the paid tuition.

Cancellations on or after the first day of the program are subject to forfeiture of the total tuition paid.

If you are unable to attend a program, you may substitute your enrollment with one of your employees without penalty. All substitution information must be submitted to a member of staff one week before the course start date. CSIS reserves the right to accept or reject an alternate attendee for offerings that require a minimum level of experience or qualifications.

For self-paced, online courses:

If participation is cancelled prior to logging in to the course platform for the first time, tuition will be fully refunded. If participation is delayed prior to logging in to the course platform for the first time, three-month access to the course will begin at the first log-in to the course platform.

If participation is cancelled or delayed after first logging in to the course platform, no refund will be issued nor will any payment be applied to future participation. Three-month access to the course will begin from date of first log-in to the course platform.

Accommodations

CSIS does not provide accommodations, however there are several hotels within walking distance of the Center, including The Beacon Hotel, The Darcy Hotel, Canopy by Hilton – Embassy Row location, Holiday Inn – Washington D.C.-Central/White House location, and The Jefferson Hotel.

Breakfast and lunch are provided daily to all participants.

CSIS requires business professional attire at all times, with the exception of certain leadership excursions which may require athletic wear.

Other

Upon completion of a program, participants are given a certificate of completion, acknowledging their completion of a CSIS executive course.

Yes, our Executive Master’s in International Relations degree offered with Syracuse’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs is a master’s degree program specializing in public administration and international relations.

We recommend applying to the next iteration of the program and contacting a member of our team to express your interest in getting on the waitlist.

CSIS will strive to host each program when it is scheduled. If, in the event of inclement weather, we must cancel the course, you will receive an email from a member of our team giving further details.
