
Truly Tinsley is the associate director of the China Power Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Before joining CSIS, Truly worked as an associate in operations for Democracy International, an international development organization. Before joining Democracy International, Truly conducted research for the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs Public Diplomacy Office. In this role, she provided research for and helped facilitate the release of the Biden administration’s Indo-Pacific Strategy. Before this role, Truly conducted research for the U.S. House of Representatives, the Office of the Mayor of San Antonio, and the United States Senate. Truly’s primary interests are in Chinese foreign policy, track II and public diplomacy, human rights, and U.S. foreign policy in the Indo-Pacific. Truly holds a master’s degree in international affairs from George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in international affairs and Chinese language from Trinity University.
