Book Event: Lifeline by John Donnelly
Brought to you by
Please join the CSIS Bipartisan Alliance for Global Health Security and CSIS Africa Program for a discussion of the recently published book, Lifeline: The Story of PEPFAR, the Greatest Humanitarian Initiative of Our Time, by John Donnelly. This in-person and webcast conversation will take place on Tuesday, October 27 from 4:00-5:00pm ET, with an in-person only reception and book signing from 5:00-6:00pm ET. Books will be available for purchase at the event courtesy of East City Bookshop.
In Lifeline, published by HarperCollins, Donnelly provides an inspiring account of how the U.S. government built PEPFAR, a then start-up development program to fight AIDS. PEPFAR went on to save more than twenty-six million lives, becoming one of America’s most successful foreign assistance programs in history. Lifeline draws from interviews with more than 200 global health leaders, from President George W. Bush to Dr. Anthony Fauci to local physicians across Africa, to cover the period from PEPFAR’s inception to the beginning of 2009.
This event is made possible by the generous support of the Gates Foundation.
