Join the Americas Program for a conversation on what will be discussed at this year's Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting (ATCM) in Milan from 23 June to 3 July 2025.

The Antarctic Treaty has stood as a landmark for international cooperation in scientific research and environmental stewardship. Since its signing in 1959, the Treaty has shielded Antarctica from conflict, establishing the continent as a demilitarized area free of sovereign claims and a rare model for peaceful multilateral collaboration through science. The annual ATCM provide a multilateral platform to the Consultative Parties to advance diplomatic engagement, scientific excellence, and joint environmental leadership in the region. This event will explore the priorities at this ATCM, as well as opportunities to deepen scientific research and coordination.

This event is made possible through general support to CSIS.
