Online Event: Public Private Partnerships: The Foundation for America’s approach to Standards-setting

Thursday, July 16, 2020 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Standards-setting is a foundation activity for modern commerce. America’s approach to standards-development is grounded in the private sector. The Government plays an important role, but ultimately it is the private sector that is the foundation for America’s approach to standards-setting.

In this session, we will explore the dynamics of American standards development as a public-private enterprise. Our seminar will feature:

  • Mr. Joe Bhatia, President of the American National Standards Institute, the primary organization to coordinate the private sector’s activities in national and global standards-setting
  • Dr. Walter Copan, Under Secretary of Commerce and Director, National Institute of Standards and Technology
  • Mr. Phil Wennblom, Director of Standards Policy at the Intel Corporation

All three of our experts have extensive experience in the standards-development process.  This is the third in the series of seminars on standards-setting, sponsored by the Langone Chair on American Leadership.

This event was made possible through general support to CSIS
