COP Stocktake: On the Ground at COP28

December 7, 2023 • 10:00 – 10:30 am EST

Global leaders will gather in Dubai for the 28th United Nations Conference of the Parties. Heads of state, diplomats, climate experts, and environmental activists will take stock of global climate efforts and work to establish new commitments and strategies for future progress. Fossil fuels, food, land use, and climate resilience will be among the key topics discussed. This makes it a pivotal opportunity to chart a resilient path forward for comprehensive global climate action.

The CSIS Energy Security and Climate Change Program's "COP Stocktake" series will delve into the context, themes, and factors that will ultimately determine the success or failure of COP28.

The third episode will feature Robinson Meyer, Founding Executive Editor, Heatmap, Gracelin Baskaran, Research Director and Senior Fellow, Energy Security and Climate Change Program, CSIS, and Joseph Majkut, Director, Energy Security and Climate Change Program, CSIS. They will discuss the first week of announcements, deals, and pledges made so far and what lies ahead for the teams of negotiators as they rush to close out final commitments.

This event is made possible by general funding to CSIS and the CSIS Energy Security & Climate Change Program.
