Global Collaboration to Eliminate Cervical Cancer

November 18, 2026 • 4:00 – 5:00 pm EST

November 17, 2026, marks World Cervical Cancer Elimination Day, and highlights countries’ efforts to expand access to vaccination against Human Papillomavirus (HPV), screening for cervical cancer, and treatment for women found to have cervical disease, which kills an estimated 369,000 women per year. To realize the ambitious global goal of eliminating the disease in this century, countries will need to increase financing for prevention and treatment services, increase training for health workers, and strengthen education and outreach to populations at risk. What are the greatest challenges countries are facing? How are countries and regions measuring progress towards the elimination goal? What lessons can be learned from others with experience in scaling up testing, treatment, and HPV vaccination?

Please join the CSIS Bipartisan Alliance for Global Health Security on November 18, 2026 from 4:00-5:00pm EDT for a broadcast conversation with Katherine E. Bliss, Director and Senior Fellow, Immunizations and Health Systems Resilience, with the CSIS Global Health Policy Center; Rebecca Martin, President, Global Immunizations, Sabin Vaccine Institute; Silvana Luciani, Unit Chief, Noncommunicable Diseases, Violence and Injury Prevention, Pan American Health Organization (PAHO); and Amos Bassi, Project Director, JSI.

This event is made possible by the generous support of the Gates Foundation.
