Online Event: A Conversation with AFSOC Commander Lt. Gen. Jim Slife

Please join the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Transnational Threats Project for a wide-ranging conversation on national security topics with Lt. Gen. James C. “Jim” Slife, Commander, Air Force Special Operations Command. Seth Jones, Harold Brown Chair and Director of the Transnational Threats Project, will join Lt. Gen. Slife to discuss competition against state adversaries, innovation and acquisition, the budget environment, and rebalancing the force.

Lt. Gen. James C. “Jim” Slife is the Commander, Air Force Special Operations Command, Hurlburt Field, Florida. The command is the Air Force component of U.S. Special Operations Command. AFSOC provides Air Force special operations forces for worldwide deployment and assignment to unified combatant commanders. The command has approximately 20,800 active-duty, Reserve, Air National Guard and civilian professionals. Lt. Gen. Slife was born outside of Detroit and grew up in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was commissioned through the ROTC program at Auburn University and has spent the majority of his career in special operations aviation assignments, deploying extensively.
