Schieffer Series: The U.S. Withdraws: Syria and Afghanistan

Wednesday, January 23, 2019 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm
CSIS Headquarters

Please join us for the next installment of the Schieffer Series, The U.S. Withdraws: Syria and Afghanistan. The Trump administration’s decision to pull U.S. troops from Syria and Afghanistan and the subsequent resignation of U.S. Secretary of Defense James Mattis has generated many questions about U.S. interests in the greater Middle East. The panel discussion will focus on the effect of these decisions on the conditions in Syria and Afghanistan, regional stability, and the consequences for U.S. national security.

Event - 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.
Post-Event Reception- 5:30 - 6:00 p.m.
