Ryuhei Ono

Ryuhei Ono is a visiting fellow with the Critical Minerals Security Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). He is a resource markets specialist with more than 15 years of experience across mining investments, commodity supply chains, market intelligence, and commercial strategy. His research focuses on resource security, critical minerals, industrial competitiveness, and the strategic implications of shifting commodity flows. Prior to joining CSIS, he advised companies and investors across the mining and metals sector on market developments, supply chain dynamics, and commercial strategy. His recent work has examined China’s steel demand peak, industrial overcapacity, scrap recycling systems, and low-carbon steelmaking technologies, with a particular focus on their implications for global raw material markets and the energy transition.
