Can Ukraine Survive Without U.S. Aid?
Brought to you by
In March 2025, the Trump administration halted the delivery of all U.S. military aid to Ukraine following a tense Oval Office meeting between President Trump and President Zelensky. Although the United States resumed security and intelligence aid within a matter of days, threat of another cutoff of aid to Ukraine looms large.
Dr. Daniel Byman, Director of CSIS's Warfare, Irregular Threats, and Terrorism Program was joined by Alexander Palmer, Riley McCabe, and Iselin Brady for a conversation on the potential impacts of a partial or complete suspension of U.S. military support to Ukraine. The virtual discussion addressed the types of aid the United States currently supplies to Ukraine, whether Europe could step up to fill a void left by the United States, and how a potential U.S. cutoff might affect the balance of forces in Ukraine.
This event is made possible through general support to CSIS.
