2022 Washington Humanitarian Forum: Closing the Gap

Protracted armed conflicts, catastrophic climate emergencies, and the COVID-19 pandemic have all contributed to widespread human suffering. Yet many traditional donors are reducing their contributions to fragile contexts, causing the humanitarian funding gap to widen and reducing services available to vulnerable communities. The humanitarian sector must identify new ways of engaging traditional donors and stakeholders, create new sustainable relationships with non-traditional donors and actors, and shift the approach when communicating about crises to ensure aid reaches vulnerable communities.


The Washington Humanitarian Forum 2022 will feature a mix of country-based and thematic panels that look at new actors, changing narratives, and the competition for resources between humanitarian action and other foreign assistance priorities. The forum will also focus on the importance of tackling these challenging issues while rebuilding trust in the humanitarian sector.
