IEEJ Energy Outlook 2026: Deepening Uncertainties Surrounding the Challenges of Energy Transition
Brought to you by
The CSIS Energy Security and Climate Change Program is pleased to host the U.S. launch of the IEEJ Outlook 2026 on Friday, Nov 14, 10:30-11:30 AM. Joseph Majkut, Director, CSIS Energy Security and Climate Change Program, will moderate a conversation with Dr. Ken Koyama, Senior Managing Director and Chief Economist, Institute of Energy Economics, Japan (IEEJ), and Dr. Yoshikazu Kobayashi, Senior Research Director, IEEJ.
The IEEJ Outlook is the flagship publication prepared annually by the IEEJ. It presents an energy outlook through 2050, based on a forecast-based approach, offering a plausible and pragmatic supply–demand outlook through the Reference Scenario and the Advanced Technologies Scenario. In addition to long-term projections, the Outlook each year features in-depth analyses of timely and important topics.
The IEEJ Outlook 2026 explores the integration costs of variable renewable energy (VRE) in ASEAN, the relationship between AI and energy demand, diverse pathways for decarbonization in the transport sector, and realistic temperature target.
This event is made possible through general support to CSIS and the CSIS Energy Security and Climate Change Program.
