Investing in Good: A Conversation with Jean Case, CEO of the Case Impact Network
Please join the Center for Strategic and International Studies for a Smart Women, Smart Power conversation with businesswoman and philanthropist Jean Case, CEO of the Case Impact Network and Chairman of the Board of National Geographic. She will discuss her work on redefining capitalism and making it more inclusive as well as why she is so committed to ensuring the next generation has the tools they need to invest in good.
Jean has a long and diverse track record of innovation and transformation as a business builder, tech pioneer, investor, policy advocate and philanthropist. Since 2016, she has served as Chairman of the National Geographic Society, an organization she has been actively involved in for more than a decade. Since 1997, Jean has served as CEO of The Case Foundation. In that role, she has led cross-sector partnerships that have brought business, government and nonprofits together to drive impact in areas including inclusive entrepreneurship, impact investing, citizen engagement and the digital divide. In January 2020, she launched the Case Impact Network to build on her leadership in impact investing and to identify and support opportunities for companies to more fully integrate impact into their business approaches.
Jean is the bestselling author of Be Fearless: Five Principles for a Life of Breakthroughs and Purpose. It highlights principles proven to drive innovation and breakthroughs and tells the stories of founders, companies and movements that have helped to change the world.
Jean has served on advisory boards at Harvard Business School, Stanford and Georgetown universities, and as an Executive in Residence at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business. She was named as an advisor to the U.S. National Advisory Board to the Social Impact Investing Task Force. President George W. Bush appointed Jean as Chair of the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation. She also co-chaired the U.S.-Palestinian Partnership. Jean was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2016, and her extensive achievements have been recognized with honorary degrees from Indiana University and George Mason University.
