Byron D. Trott Joins CSIS Board of Trustees

WASHINGTON—The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is pleased to announce that Byron D. Trott, founder, chairman, and CEO of BDT & Company, has joined the CSIS Board of Trustees.

“I am delighted to welcome Byron Trott as our newest trustee,” said John J. Hamre, CSIS president and CEO. “Throughout his impressive career, Byron has distinguished himself by his skill and foresight. CSIS will greatly benefit from his presence on our board.”

Mr. Trott led a 27-year career at Goldman, Sachs & Co., rising to vice chairman of the global Investment Banking Division, where he served from 2005 to 2009. In 2009, Mr. Trott founded BDT & Company, a merchant bank headquartered in Chicago, with offices in New York, London and Frankfurt, that provides advice and long-term capital through its affiliated investment funds to help family and founder-led businesses pursue their strategic and financial objectives.

Mr. Trott serves as a director on the boards of Acorn Holdings B.V. and its subsidiary JDE, Cox Enterprises, Enterprise Holdings, Inc., and Tory Burch LLC. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the University of Chicago and as a director of Conservation International.

In 2011, Mr. Trott was inducted into the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans and now serves as president of the Association. He received an A.B. from the University of Chicago and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
