Aaron Salzberg is the director of the Water Institute and the Don and Jennifer Holzworth Distinguished Professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Salzberg has held a number of positions within the U.S. government, including serving as the first special coordinator for water at the U.S. Department of State, where he led the development and implementation of U.S. foreign policy on drinking water and sanitation, water resources management, and transboundary water issues. He directed the development of the first U.S. government-wide Global Water Strategy and also holds an appointment as a global fellow at the Woodrow Wilson Center and is the recipient of numerous awards and distinctions. He has a PhD in genetic toxicology and a master’s degree in technology and policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Maryland.
