Alexei Hoffman

Alexei Hoffman is a research associate with the Aerospace Security Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, where he focuses on military aerospace, unmanned-systems policy, and adversary space capabilities. He began his career as a forward observer (13F) and joint fires observer (JFO) in the U.S. Army, deploying to Afghanistan and conducting partner-force advisory missions across Asia, and later volunteered as a defense training advisor with Ukraine’s International Legion, gaining firsthand exposure to drone warfare. Alexei has since worked in government, the defense industry—including Collins Aerospace—and policy research, and previously practiced national security law, advising on foreign investment review, defense export controls, and cross-border transactions. He holds an MA in Asian studies from Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service, an MA in international politics and military affairs from the Citadel, and a JD from Georgia State University College of Law
