Rukmini Banerjee

Rukmini Banerjee is a deputy director and fellow with the Abshire-Inamori Leadership Academy (AILA) and Executive Education at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). In this role, she supports the design and delivery of AILA’s executive education and leadership program portfolios. Before joining CSIS, Ms. Banerjee was the president and executive director of HasNa, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organization that implements peacebuilding and human development projects in the eastern Mediterranean region. Her areas of expertise include conflict management, humanitarian assistance, gender mainstreaming, organizational leadership, and developing capacity-building programs for civil society organizations. Ms. Banerjee obtained an MA in conflict resolution from Georgetown University, where she specialized in refugees and humanitarian emergencies. As a graduate student, she received a fellowship from her program to spend a summer in Ankara, Turkey, where she worked with the Turkish Red Crescent on their Syrian refugee response operations. Ms. Banerjee also holds a second MA degree and a BA (honors) degree in English from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India.
