Auto industries, science laboratories, and governments have turned greater attention toward hydrogen as a possible alternative fuel to succeed both in widespread production and distribution. The U.S. Department of Energy does not believe that a large scale hydrogen economy is likely until at least 2020, and many believe even that is an overly optimistic timeline.
