Book Event: Major General Arnold L. Punaro's "The Ever-Shrinking Fighting Force"

November 16, 2021 • 12:00 – 1:00 pm EST

Join the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) for a book event featuring Major General Arnold L. Punaro (USMC, Ret.), CEO of The Punaro Group and author of The Ever-Shrinking Fighting Force. Despite the U.S. military’s unrivaled capabilities and global reach, there is a compelling need for improvement in its support elements.

In The Ever-Shrinking Fighting Force, General Punaro offers solutions to some of the issues that continue to plague the Pentagon’s creeping bureaucracy, such as the glacial pace and increasing costs of acquisitions, the spiraling growth of the defense agencies and DoD’s overhead, and the costs of the all-volunteer force. General Punaro, along with three highly regarded defense experts, will discuss how the Department of Defense can overcome its most pressing issues to ensure that we are better, faster, and cheaper than our adversaries.

Following introductory remarks by CSIS President and CEO Dr. John J. Hamre, General Punaro will join Senator Sam Nunn, former Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee and CSIS Trustee; Congressman William “Mac” Thornberry, former Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee; and Jen Stewart, Senior Vice President at WestExec Advisors and former Chief of Staff to Secretary of Defense Mark T. Esper, for a panel discussion. CSIS International Security Program Senior Adviser, Mark F. Cancian, will moderate the panel.

This event is made possible through general support to CSIS.
