Is China’s Economy Broken?

Why has China's economy slowed so dramatically after years of rapid growth, and what realistic policy options and tools do Chinese authorities have to improve the economy’s trajectory?

Please join the CSIS Trustee Chair in Chinese Business and Economics for an in-person event featuring Logan Wright of the Rhodium Group (and a CSIS non-resident senior associate). Dr. Wright will first introduce the findings from his new book, Broken China: How the Economic Miracle Shattered and What It Means for the World (Polity), focusing on the financial roots of China's economic slowdown and what it means for Beijing's policy options moving forward. Following this presentation, CSIS Trustee Chair Scott Kennedy will lead a conversation concerning the political and economic implications of Dr. Wright's research for China and the rest of the world with panelists Dinny McMahon (Trivium), Tianlei Huang (PIIE), and Zoe Liu (CFR). Following the discussion, there will be a reception, and copies of the book will be available for signing by the author.
