Online Event: CSIS Debate Series: Lockdowns vs. Livelihoods
In an attempt to curb the spread of Covid-19, varying degrees of lockdowns and social distancing measures have gone into effect across the African continent. But with these restrictions in place, vulnerable communities are facing another set of risks that challenge their livelihoods. In our fourth debate, CSIS will pose the question, “Are social distancing measures appropriate for curbing Covid-19's spread in Africa?” Experts will face off to discuss the tradeoffs between public health measures and livelihoods in sub-Saharan Africa.
The CSIS Africa Debate Series offers an opportunity to question and refine policy objectives to meet a changing political landscape. Join the Africa Program on June 11th, 2020 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am EDT for the fourth debate in the CSIS Debate Series.
