The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) on July 7 at 9:00 a.m. ET will host a press briefing previewing President Biden’s upcoming trip to the Middle East.

The president will make the final stop of his tour in Saudi Arabia and is slated to meet Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman face-to-face. CSIS experts will unpack the implications of the visit, as the United States engages once more with the Kingdom that President Biden once vowed to make "a pariah."

Specifically, CSIS experts will address:

  • The Biden administration’s goals for the trip, the Saudi government’s goals, and what each is likely to get for its efforts;
  • What the trip means for the future U.S. role in the Middle East, and how the Middle East will fit into U.S. global strategy;
  • The visit’s energy agenda, focusing on Saudi Arabia’s perspective, as well as Russia-Ukraine uncertainties, the pressure from Washington to increase oil supply, and the spare capacity challenge;
  • And implications for the Biden administration’s human rights agenda.

There will be a question-and-answer period following the experts' opening statements.
