1/19/24 update: Event proceeding as planned despite DC snow!
In September 2023, a new record was set in space launch. Just 27 hours after receiving an order to launch, a team comprised of U.S. Space Systems Command, Boeing's Millennium Space Systems (which built the satellite) and Firefly Aerospace (which built the rocket) successfully launched a satellite into low Earth orbit. Named VICTUS NOX, the mission aimed to demonstrate the ability to launch in a timeframe much shorter than typical national security space launches. It also highlighted the need for a holistic approach to tactically responsive space, including in acquisition, infrastructure, processes, and culture.
Please join the Aerospace Security Project on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 2:00pm ET for a two-part event on tactically responsive space. The event will begin with an engaging conversation with General Michael A. Guetlein, Vice Chief of Space Operations for the United States Space Force, moderated by ASP Director Kari A. Bingen. Immediately following will be a panel discussion with experts exploring the past, present, and future of tactically responsive space.
This will be a hybrid event hosted at CSIS and livestreamed from this webpage, with the opportunity for in person and online viewers to submit live questions from this event page for both segments of the event. In-person attendance will be limited, please RSVP to secure a spot.
2:00pm – 3:00pm
ASP Director Kari A. Bingen will sit down with General Guetlein to discuss developments in tactically responsive space, where it is headed, and the challenges to be overcome spanning policy, process, technology, and culture
