An Update, As Year Two Unfolds—Gaza: The Human Toll
Brought to you by
The CSIS studio broadcasts—‘Gaza: The Human Toll’—are produced by the CSIS Bipartisan Alliance for Global Health Security, in collaboration with the CSIS Humanitarian Agenda and the CSIS Middle East Program. The 19th episode, Tuesday, October 15, 9:00am-10:00am ET, is the occasion to pause and take account of the full spectrum of health and humanitarian efforts and the evolving threats of disease outbreaks, famine, and rising mortality: as year two of the Israel-Hamas war unfolds, while conflict spreads across the region, and as prospects for a ceasefire and peace deal remain thin. Speakers will provide an update on the second round of polio vaccination; supply, access, and security of delivery of emergency assistance; continued efforts to restore water desalination and create an effective deconfliction mechanism; and medical evacuations.
Moderator J. Stephen Morrison, Senior Vice President and Director, CSIS Global Health Policy Center, will be joined by keynote speakers Jean Gough, Special Representative for UNICEF in the State of Palestine, and Richard (Rik) Peeperkorn, World Health Organization Representative for Occupied Palestinian Territory.
This event is made possible by general support to the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
