The Capital Area Food Bank 2026 Hunger Report Launch

Please join the Capital Area Food Bank at the Center for Strategic and International Studies for the launch of Capital Area Food Bank’s 2026 Hunger Report, which provides one of the most comprehensive, data-driven looks at food insecurity in the Greater Washington region and explores cross-sector solutions to address this pressing challenge. 

Since 2020, the Capital Area Food Bank has produced an annual Hunger Report detailing the food-insecurity crisis in the region. The data in the report are from a general population survey conducted by the Capital Area Food Bank and NORC at the University of Chicago. 

The launch event will include a presentation of this year's key findings, a panel discussion about the data’s implications, including for U.S. national security, and an opportunity for networking. Director Caitlin Welsh will host the launch event, which will include a presentation of this year's key findings by the Capital Area Food Bank's Sabrina Tadele, Deputy Chief of Strategic Initiatives, and Hilary Salmon, Deputy Chief of External Affairs. It also will include a panel discussion about the data’s implications, including for U.S. national security, with Capital Area Food Bank’s Radha Muthiah, President and CEO, Matthew P. Rabbitt, Principal Research Associate at the Urban Institute, Jack McDougle, President and CEO of the Greater Washington Board of Trade, and Kofi Essel, Food as Medicine Program Director at Elevance Health. Dr. John Hamre, CSIS CEO Emeritus, will provide concluding remarks. Following the event, there will be an in-person reception with light refreshments.
