Mathias Zacarias

Mathias Zacarias is an associate fellow and energy transitions fellow in the Energy Security and Climate Change Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). In this role, he covers hydrogen and low carbon fuels while supporting research on power sector decarbonization, clean energy supply chains, carbon management, and methane abatement. Prior to joining CSIS, he worked as a graduate research assistant at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he researched deep decarbonization pathways of energy and infrastructure systems; as an advocacy research volunteer at the Southface Institute, where he researched the potential of demand-side resources as a decarbonization pathway of the power sector in the state of Georgia; and as an intern in the CSIS Energy Security and Climate Change Program, where he covered hydrogen deployment strategies. He holds an MS and BS in civil engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, with minors in sustainable cities and German.
