Covid-19 in North Korea
A collection of analyses examining the human and systemic effects of Covid-19 in North Korea.
This project brings together original data, research, and expert analysis on the impact of Covid-19 in North Korea. From the regime’s strict border closures beginning in 2020 to the pandemic’s effects on the economy and daily life, these analyses examine the immediate and long-term human, economic, and political costs of the crisis and the government’s response. Together, they offer a rare window into the lived experiences of North Koreans during one of the world’s most extreme lockdowns.
