New technologies are creating opportunities and challenges for law enforcement. On the one hand, new investigative techniques and sources of data provide additional tools to investigators, helping them to apprehend and convict criminals. On the other hand, the proliferation of new technologies has led to new forms of crime, rendered some traditional investigative methods obsolete, and created a need for new skills, training, and tools for law enforcement. The Strategic Technologies Program looks at the impact of new technologies on crime and law enforcement, and how law enforcement can adapt to the changing digital landscape.
