It provides an English translation of sections from a proposed update to Japan’s export controls on advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment. The update includes tighter restrictions on chip testing and measurement equipment, computer-aided design software, materials, and semiconductors.
The proposed update generally introduces greater specificity in which exports are covered and goes into greater technical detail than previous controls.
