NORAD Modernization and Continental Defense

June 17, 2026 • 10:45 am – 12:15 pm EDT

Bound together by strategic partnerships including NATO, NORAD, and the Five Eyes, the United States and Canada have a long history of defense and security partnership. Although high-level tensions have introduced new complications into this relationship, a shifting global threat environment makes the U.S.-Canada alliance more important than ever. As threats evolve and technologies advance, the United States and Canada are both undertaking efforts to modernize early warning systems, sensors, command and control to ensure effective defense of North America.

This panel will focus on U.S. and Canadian defense cooperation efforts, with a particular focus on aerospace security. It will explore how both countries are seeking to boost readiness and defense against high and low-end threats ranging from ballistic and hypersonic missiles to commercial drones. It will also explore current procurement trends and the potential for greater defense-industrial collaboration between Washington and Ottawa.
