The Kremlin Playbook Spotlight is an occasional series that offers a visual and contextual snapshot of the workings of Russian malign influence in Europe. Based on our groundbreaking 2016 research The Kremlin Playbook: Understanding Russian Influence in Central and Eastern Europe and the 2019 follow-on report The Kremlin Playbook 2: The Enablers Edition, the Kremlin Playbook Spotlight will examine timely examples of Russian malign influence—from Russian military coercion to financial influence through complex money-laundering schemes in Europe—to educate our readers about the evolving nature of Russian influence. This new research will examine select European countries that facilitate and amplify Russian economic influence operations, as well as continue to analyze the methodology of Russian influence operations across Europe.
