The Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) High-Risk List

Wednesday, March 10, 2021 10:00 am - 11:00 am

The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Taliban are currently engaged in U.S.-led peace negotiations. Meanwhile, the U.S. and coalition troops are withdrawing military personnel in Afghanistan to the lowest levels since the early days of the U.S. intervention almost 20 years ago. During this critical time, the United States must now determine its future role in Afghanistan and the implications it will have on a post-peace settlement.

Please join the CSIS Burke Chair on Wednesday, March 10th at 10am as Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR), John F. Sopko, unveils SIGAR's latest High-Risk List for Congress. The High-Risk List will call attention to the greatest threats facing U.S. reconstruction efforts in Afghanistan. Mr. Sopko will then join Dr. Anthony H. Cordesman for a discussion on the report's findings. Please submit your online questions via the button on the events page. We will incorporate your audience questions into the Q&A session.

The Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) “2021 High-Risk List” report is available here.

The CSIS Burke Chair has obtained permission from SIGAR to upload the SIGAR "2021 High Risk List."

This event is made possible through general support to CSIS.
