Will New FERC Orders Unlock Electricity for Data Centers?

June 25, 2026 • 3:00 – 4:00 pm EDT

On June 18, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission responded to the Department of Energy's data center interconnection ANOPR by ordering regional grid operators to improve speed to power for large loads while protecting ratepayers from undue risks. The order avoided the ANOPR's potential conflict with state authorities, focusing solely on the six FERC-jurisdictional organized electricity markets, and acknowledged the regional differences in power sector management.

Join CSIS scholars and expert guests as they analyze this new approach and ask if it will effectively realize national priorities for the power sector.

This event is made possible by general funding to CSIS and the CSIS Energy Security and Climate Change Program.
