2020 was a year unlike any other in the 40 year history of HIV/AIDS. The Covid-19 pandemic, as it carries into 2021, poses the gravest geopolitical threat ever to the progress achieved in recent decades in the field of HIV/AIDS: unprecedented disruptions, social and economic instability, lives at risk, and uncertainty about the continuity of operations. AIDS 2021 explores the debates now rapidly unfolding over these shocks and how to mitigate them: how can we adapt to protect, and sustain progress, particularly with regard to acutely vulnerable populations? How is the existing investment in HIV/AIDS to be now understood and built upon in the larger context of the debate over the future of health security in low and middle income countries? Hosted by J. Stephen Morrison, Katherine Bliss, and Janet Fleischman at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
AIDS 2021 is produced by Liz Pulver and Mark Donaldson.
