Nuclear Energy Trends

Tracking trends in nuclear energy supply and demand around the globe

Although the nuclear industry is fond of saying “An accident anywhere is an accident everywhere,” decisions about nuclear energy are often local and idiosyncratic.  Many of the same reasons are given for pursuing nuclear energy – energy security, climate change, and electricity demand growth – but economic, political and social factors that affect decisions play out quite differently among countries.  As ever, the issues of cost, safety, waste, proliferation and security continue to loom large.  The Proliferation Prevention Program tracks nuclear energy developments around the world, assessing their proliferation and security implications.
