A Conversation with Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi: The Art of Power
Brought to you by
On Wednesday, September 18 at 8:30 a.m. ET, CSIS welcomes Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for a conversation on her new book, The Art of Power: My Story as America's First Woman Speaker of the House, moderated by CSIS’s Dr. Kathleen McInnis, director of the Smart Women, Smart Power Initiative.
In The Art of Power, Pelosi describes for the first time what it takes to make history—not only as the first woman to ascend to the most powerful legislative role in our nation, but to pass laws that would save lives and livelihoods. She recounts her role in shaping U.S. foreign policy during seminal moments such as China’s violent crackdown in Tiananmen Square, the Iraq War and her historic decision to visit Taiwan. She also shares moving moments with soldiers sent to the front lines, women who inspired her, and human rights activists who fought by her side.
CSIS is honored to be hosting the 52nd Speaker of the House to celebrate the recent release of her memoir on her time in Congress. Speaker Emerita Pelosi has been a fixture of the House of Representatives and American politics since she took office nearly three decades ago. This event aims to bring together some of the brightest minds and top women in national security to celebrate the former House Speaker.
This event is made possible through general support to CSIS.
