South Korea's Political Crisis
Tracking the political, economic and social impact of South Korea’s political instability and constitutional crisis
The emergency declaration of martial law by South Korean president Yoon Suk Yeol in December 2024 has precipitated an unprecedented political, economic and social crisis for South Korea at a most inopportune time, with threats mounting from China, North Korea and Russia, and the return of President Trump. The Korea Chair closely follows new developments in the impeachment process and the implications for the U.S.-ROK alliance and the region.
This project is made possible with general support from CSIS.
