CSIS seeks to understand policy changes and their impacts on the defense industry, the acquisition process, and defense innovation. This work focuses on defense reform, its effects on U.S. security strategy, and its implications for change around the world. This research is led by the International Security Program and the Defense-Industrial Initiatives Group (DIIG), with additional research conducted by the Burke Chair in Strategy, the Technology Policy Program, and others.
